1. Chronological resume
For employers and hiring managers, this is the most popular form of resume. At the top of it is a career objective or a summary. Afterwards, a detailed list of jobs that the person has taken so far, beginning with the most recent one will be included. For each position listed, such assigned responsibilities and achievements should be briefly quoted.
A chronological resume begins with a list of all the work you have fulfilled, in which the most recent one will be firstly mentioned. All the jobs to be held will be arranged in the time order, with the current or most recent one to be listed first. Chronological resume is typically favored by employers because it is much easier to know about your previous jobs, what you have done and when you have worked on them.

2. Functional resume
A functional resume is not formatted under the chronological order but it typically focus on what skills and capacities are gained during you career path so far. This type of resume draw attention of employers to what you can do rather than what you have done.
A functional resume lists your skills and experience but not too focus on your chronological history of work. People those often change their jobs or have gaps in their working history prefer this type of resume.

3. Combination resume
Different people may prefer different type of resumes and no specific style can be perfectly fit to someone. That is why a combination resume will be the greatest choice.
In a combination resume, your skills and experience are firstly listed. Followed is your working history. For this type of resume, the skills and capacities that you find most suitable for the post you are interested of can be highlighted, afterwards is the work history arranged in time, with most recent job to be listed first.

4. Targeted resumes
A target resume can be formatted like one of these three styles; the only difference is that it is written for a certain company or a certain post. A targeted resume is used in case a specific job is recommended to you from somebody in your network or from a formal source such as an ad or a job board.
Most employers and recruiters typically do not prefer this type of resume because what you have done so far in each job of your career is really difficult for them to figure out.

5. Professional Resume
When we mentioned the templates and samples of a resume, we ever discussed what a professional resume is formatted. When we say about a professional resume, there are two characteristics should be included. Firstly, it is vital that your resume be written in a professional and polished way. Secondly, the resume has to contain such information that a professional would refer in their resume.

6. New graduates resume
Resume of those who have graduated from universities or colleges are aimed at showing their capacities and potentials. What these people have had is quite different from those of other candidates for the job. Basically, they lack of experience or have had none so far, simply because they have finished the study.
That explains why new graduates have to focus on what their abilities, knowledge, accomplishments, qualifications are, which responsibilities they have taken so far, or what they have done in voluntary work, trips or how well they can use foreign languages….

7. Executive Resume
Executives, who are taking high positions, often use this kind of resume. It will summarize such objectives the applicants have gained so far in the position of a director, for example, of a department or company, as well as their leadership skill, how they develop projects, utilize capacities and motivations of a team, give solutions to different problems. On the whole, executive resume emphasize the abilities they have and those the post requires.

8. Curriculum Vitae
A curriculum vitae is indeed a uniform document or biographical statement of what you have experienced and achieved. A curriculum vitae often consists of four to eight pages. It is typically preferred by those who are driven to take a PhD course, i.e. in case higher qualifications, research, published works, professional and recognition are highly appreciated.
The academic community tends to prefer curriculum vitae, often called CVs rather than resumes. Several people think that there are no formal standards when writing CVs, however the employers and recruiters still would like to find out basic information and place some expectations when reading it.
